got the food poisoning blues. oh yeah

where have you been, you ask? well, so glad you wondered. i’ve been sick.  and i don’t mean the usual little stuffy nose or sore throat. nope, i think i’ve been poisoned. it would suffice to tell you that between the hours of midnight and 6 am on sunday i was lying curled up on the too-short-love-seat upstairs (the closest spot near the bathroom) begging God to just take me on home. after begging him to not let mike get sick since someone had to take care of the girls. after begging him why i was being punished in this way.  at one point i contemplated just sleeping on the bathroom floor, i like the tile and all, and thought the coolness might bring some relief. it seems that nothing would bring relief but we made it. i was able to eat part of a potato last night and am slowly eating more. so, yeah, i’m back. mike sanitized the whole house just in case it wasn’t the suspected food poisoning and i’m catching up on all the laundry…. and wondering what to blog about.

i’ve been reading a lot this summer. i mean, a lot, a lot. too much. i just finished one of five novellas by Francine Rivers called Unveiled. the series is all about the women in the Bible who were part of the lineage of Jesus. super read. lots of the culture from their time. Unveiled is about Tamar, who wound up having Judah’s son after 2 of his sons (Er and Onan) were struck dead. it was really a good, quick read and i can’t wait for the next one about Rahab.

Hey Kristy! Girl I’m glad you are over the food poisoning, or whatever it was. Oh that’s SO miserable.. puking and still having to care for kids. During a food poisoning bout is possibly the only time sleeping on a cold, hard, tile floor would sound apealing. lol

I read about your paci delimma with Lilly. I can’t remember how old she is (is she 3?) but I wanted to assure you that I’m ‘one of those moms’ (shock lol) that simply limit pacifier use to BEDTIME ONLY and really don’t care how long they have it. I do try to take it here and there and encourage them to be “big” and do without it. I’m not above bribery either..
“We’ll have an ice cream party if you go 3 nights without your pacifier!” I’ve done that… TWICE. It worked, both times. :) For the record, mine were both 3yrs old when I tried it.

I’m with you, the tears aren’t worth it. If she’s really that upset by not being able to sleep with her pacifier, consider the possibility that she’s just UNABLE to do so. That always helps me make decisions parenting ways.

I’ve been neglecting you for awhile, then get on here and find that you’re sick. That’s no way for a Nannaw to treat her very special granddaughter who happens to be the mother of my very special great granddaughters and the wife of my very special grandson. So try to feel these hugs and sweet words I’m sending you. Maybe it will help the virus go away. You are very
special to me and I love you much. I’d call you but am afraid
you’d be in bed asleep by now. Love to all, Nannaw
