stay at home mom?

i can’t technically be called a stay-at-home-mom. i am constantly on the go. or at least in the psat i have been. i can’t really relate to “not wanting to leave the house.” if there wasn’t something “to do” then i would call someone or make up my own something. to the park, the grocery store, heck, i don’t even know where i’ve gone so much. but here lately i’ve challenged myself to really stay at home. and i’ve succeeded. with only a few weeks til’ abby goes to school, i’ve been really conscious of my time with her and how it’s spent. with gas prices on the rise, i’ve been really conscious of just how much those trips to the store cost. not to mention running in to buy some bread and milk and coming out $60 later for two little sackfuls.
last week, i stayed home monday and tuesday, took the kids to a play group at the park and farmers’ market on wednesday and stayed home thursday. friday we all went to the parade and to our friends’ house for a BBQ. yesterday, home. today home sick, but home nonetheless. i’ve been making lists of craft/knitting/sewing projects and surfing the web for more. i think my list was long enough before going here. oh well, one can dream of endless days of crafting.
while i was surfing away on my sick bed abby wanted a peanut butter sandwich. i said, “do you think you could make it this time?” she said, “yep!” and took off with lil’ sis in tow. a half hour later i went upstairs expecting to see a kitchen disaster zone but was pleasantly surprised. i don’t know how she reached the PB (probably better that i not ask). she’d made one for each of them and actually put all the stuff away, which is better than i do most of the time. i wouldn’t have even known she’d been in the pantry or kitchen besides the lid screwed on crooked. so cute. a proud mommy moment indeed.
another benefit of staying home: lilly’s about 80% potty trained. we’re getting there.
stay tuned to see how long my challenge lasts and if i’ll truly become a stay at home mom.

Tell Abby I am so proud of her. When y’all come Christmas, she can help me cook for this “motley crew.”
Don’t worry about Lilly Belle. Never saw one going to school yet carrying a diaper bag. :) Love, GM Doris
