camping in Alaska

we were supposed to go camping with some friends last weekend. by snowmobile, pulling trailers, riding for an hour or more to a cabin with no running water or electricity. wow! i was so excited…. but we decided at the last minute not to go because the trail was getting wet instead of snowy and we’d be having to cross the creeks that were no longer covered in solid ice, etc….. plus it was rainy and who wants to go to a cabin on the lake and sit inside?so instead we hung out with the Thiemes at their home and got to sleep in our own nice, plush, king sized bed at night. not a wooden platform on a tiny foam mat and sleeping bag. so on friday, the men went out to a lake nearby and drilled holes for ice fishing on saturday and we roasted hot dogs in their wood stove.100_6238.jpg

on saturday we snow machined out to the lake and built a giant snow man, and ice-fished in the fishless lake, and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. it was a super day!100_6278.jpg
