updates

i feel like i’ve been in fast forward mode since friday morning. somehow we were gone all day getting lilly’s haircut, shopping, and meeting with fellow moms. then i was up late preparing for saturday’s cook group (which was a smashing success, i think). we all had a great time. 4 ladies and me participated and we made 54 meals altogether. the freezer is full. the funniest events were the crying onion slicers and the “all-day waffles”. i think we’ll be doing it again. cook group, that is, not slicing onions and cooking waffles all day!

then yesterday was going to a local church about 5 minutes from us. it was good. i had met a lady that goes there on friday at the mom’s meeting so i promptly ran up to her after the service, introduced mike, reintroduced myself, and gabbed for 5 - 10 minutes.100_4733.jpg100_4734.jpg

after church we were off to a picnic with cross country church. it was loads of fun. one of the most interesting and sorta funny things since we’ve been here is that alaskans think it’s smoldering hot when it’s in the seventies. wow! we’ve really gotten a hoot out of that. i think lilly has acclamated because yesterday it was only in the mid-high seventies and she was red-faced and HOT! the rest of us aren’t there yet. i told our friends that it’s okay, they’ll be laughing at/with us when we’re saying it’s freezing cold in the 30-40’s.

toodles!

You guys are just having toooooooo much fun!!!!!! I am so happy to see you bubbling over activities. The waffles bring back memories of the GAZILLION I cooked at New Year that night when y’all were all here. Then everybody could just “nuke and eat” as they got up. Give my girls a kiss. Lilly looks like such a big girl with her new haircut. It’s obvious that Abby is enjoying all her newly-found friends. Love y’all. Grandma Doris

I had someone from Nebraska once tell me that it wasnt cold here but when it came winter she said that it WAS indeed cold but that it was a different kind of cold-apparently humidity makes a difference…LOL

I dont mind the heat, but I hate the cold-nonetheless I long for snow during the winters.

I would love to do one of the cooking groups-just dont think it is in the cards just yet…

I love that you started a cooking group and that it was successful! Did Carolyn tell you Rene is going to take your spot? We can’t wait to get back into that.

I’m so glad I got to talk to you tonight! It’s been a while!!

I know what you mean about the weather thing, but just wait after you’re there a year, you begin to feel the same way. I would get so aggravated last year when it was 80 degrees here and everyone was griping…now I’m right there with them :)
