got a box today!

yay!!!!! it was so great to see the first one come in (besides the paper that came priority). it was a priority 2 box of random stuff - the bill sorter, sewing kit, lilly’s blanket that nannaw made, 3 letters of lillian for her wall, and easter egg dyeing cups, some other random things) i’m so random with the packing. yep, only 3 letters. the 2 l’s, a, and n will be in another box. there toward the end it got really crazy packing. actually, i can’t claim that that one was at the end. hmmmmm. i need some work in the organization department. thanks, jb and amy for sending the big box of our stuff. we had fun finding out what came today and we are thankful for you and being willing to help us out in this way!
today the girls and i had a play date and lunch with some new friends. again, God is amazing. how he weaves together details of lives for His purposes. we can’t help but be certain of Him and His hand in our lives and the world at this point. it’s a great place to be. i was just whining to brandy files the week we left home of how i’m such a people person. how i’d be stuck at my new place with no friends and gee, what would i do? sobbing. she assured me that the reason i was going is that i’m a people person and that she’d go and hole up in her house for a year or two. lo and behold, she was right! we felt like we immediately were hitting it off with dave and laura and through them i’ve already met another friend. we’ve spent a couple of evenings with them and the kids and have enjoyed it immensely. they are great to laugh with, great senses of humor and lots of knowledge about the area. thankfully they don’t look at us like we’re nuts when we ask crazy questions about life here.
angela and i immediately found things in common today, more than i could imagine i’d find in a new friend here. their story is much like ours. moving to AK about 10 months ago as an act of faith because God told them to, trusting God, many of the same affirmations, the same Biblical basis, etc. we both scrapbook and are going to a crop together Friday night hopefully! we both like old things (ie houses, quilts, fiesta ware, home stuff), both of us have naturally curly hair, both have lost a parent, both are prematurely graying, both have 1 younger brother.
the kids played together great! hearing abby laugh and play with other kids is music to my ears. it was a beautiful sunny day! God is so good…we keep getting reminded constantly… oh, and they lent us a suburban so that the girls and i won’t be stuck at home being bored until we find that perfect car for us!!!! so we’re going to get pictures printed and to pick up more boxes at the PO annex.

Kristy, so good to hear things are going good and that you and Abby have made some friends. Brandy is right. You are a people person, who make friends easily. I remember when I first met you, how we hit it off, and all of the GREAT times that we have had over the last few years!! Just know that we love you guys and think of you daily. xoxo Mel

Dear Mike and Kristy, It’s so wonderful to see you so bubbling happy and relaxed looking in the pictures. Your faces and correspondence show this is right for y’all. Isn’t is amazing how things are working out for you? Enjoyed talking to you and Abby this week, and to Lilly too saying, hi, hi, hi. Have no fear, Grandfather Arie and I will be planning a trip up there before too long. Give my girls a big hug. Love, Grandma Doris
