now we’re home!

lots has happened since my last post. the short version:
1. abby and lilly diagnosed with strep throat
2. begin taking antibiotics
3. lilly still sick after days of meds
4. lilly dehydrated
5. a trip to the ER at children’s hospital late wednesday
6. a 3 day hospital stay - dehydration secondary to rotavirus
7. now we’re home
i must say that i have a new perspective on life with sick kids. i truly wish the 3 of us, me, mike, and lil, had not had the experience of living with one another in a 4×8 foot space for 80 something hours but there should be a reality show about it. i wound up sleeping in the crib with lilly, a sight i’m glad we didn’t have the camera for. mike came back from doing laundry to find my rather-large-for-a-girl feet sticking out the end of the stainless steel crib slats with the curtain drawn so that my feet were all that was showing. interesting. as was mike and i sleeping like sardines on this chair thing that parts keep sliding out of to make longer and longer. it is about 1.5 feet wide and 8 feet long. the worst was lilly getting an iv while dehydrated. seeing her so lethargic that she barely turned her head to the dr. and her being so confined. i can’t imagine how parents go through much worse on a daily basis.
but, we’re home. she’s back to getting into the recyclables. heading for the toilet (where she probably got the rotavirus to begin with), and emptying boxes of kleenexes in 2 seconds flat. purple lovey is all washed up. she is in her bed and all is well. all is truly well. i’ll take the dailyness of this phase although it makes me doggedly tired lately:)
