Can anyone recommend a good jeweler for an engagement ring in chicago?

I am looking to buy an engagement ring and want to get a fair deal for my purchase. I think retail stores have too much markup and I dont know much about the jewelers in chicago, either private or wholesale. Looking to spend about $5-$7K on an engagement ring. thanks

We went to bluenile.com and got a great quality diamond for a resonable price. I tried looking in the retail stores, but became frustrated quickly with the pushy salespeople.

Even if you don’t buy at bluenile, check them out as a place to become educated about buying a diamond. Compare their prices to what you see elsewhere (for the same quality.)

I found that they have much better quality than what you get in the retail stores. You can also search by price. They have many bands to choose from. Great service and you can track it all the way. I got mine appraised the next day and it was right on with what I purchased. The appraisal came out much higher than what I paid.
